Tyce Diorio
Readers often ask if I had anyone in mind when I write specific characters. Generally I don’t, but in the book Dream Chaser, The charismatic director, Tyson Scott was born from watching Tyce Diorio on So You Think You Can Dance.
Tyce Diorio is pretty darn amazing for a lot of reasons. One peek at his picture and anyone can see he’s one fine looking man! What drew me to him was his infectious personality, generous spirit and incredible talent. I only knew about him from SYTYCD. Then a friend recommended Every Little Step, a documentary about a few Broadway shows.
In Every Little Step, I recognized Tyce in the background of auditions for the revival of A Chorus Line. In the end he lost the part to someone else. As he left, Tyce commented something to the effect of, “It’s okay. I’m meant for something bigger. I’m meant to cross a stage and win an award.”
A couple years later, Tyce Diorio won an Emmy for his innovative choreography on SYTYCD! That spoke to me on so many levels. So in honor of Tyce, I created and named the sexy, brilliant director/choreographer in Dream Chaser, Tyson Scott!
Natural Disaster Movies, What’s Not to Love?

Some might say that natural disaster movies are depressing, but not me! I love them! I find them fascinating. Probably the biggest reason I love them, is to see how people react in the face of such terrible adversity. Who are the heroes? Who is paralyzed in fear and can’t save themselves. Of course, the best characters in these movies are the fighters, the survivors.
Now don’t get me wrong, when real natural disasters occur, the plight that regular people go through is horrible. I would never wish a flood or fire or earth quake on anyone. But in movies like 2012 there is always a humorous side to people’s reaction.
Like Woody Harrelson’s character, Charlie Frost, who can’t wait to watch the end of the world.
And then there is Rockhound, played by Steve Buscemi, in Armageddon who hires a high priced prostitute for the night before he goes off into space.
Whenever a new disaster movie comes out, I have to go see it. My husband knows he has no choice. And then the day it’s released on DVD, I buy it. I have a lovely little library of movies. Here are a few.

And then there are the heroes of the movies. Those characters who sacrifice it all to save themselves, their families and sometimes even the dog.

John Cusack in 2012. He's jeopardized the entire Ark full of innocent people and has to save the day.
And then there are the characters who bite the dust.

Bruce Willis in Armageddon right before he sets off the nuke and sacrifices himself for all mankind.
I can’t wait for the next big disaster movie and wonder when it will arrive. Hopefully soon. We need another hero to watch!

My latest book, Dream Chaser, is now available at Amazon!
It’s a great story and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Dream Chaser
Willow Thomas has a bad habit of running away from things that scare her. And most recently, she quit her high school cheerleading squad after a terrifying fall.
With time on her hands, she auditions for a musical production directed by a Broadway choreographer. Just when things are looking up, Willow discovers she will be performing opposite Eli McAvoy, the best friend she abandoned three years before. To make matters worse, the kids in the musical hate her, her singing sucks, and her dog is sick.
Eli has grown up during their years apart and now possesses confidence and good looks, as well as a giant chip on his shoulder. He is in no hurry to play nice with Willow, but their entwined roles in the musical lead to entwined bodies in the backseat of his car.
Just when she finally has her life under control, another surprise is delivered in the form of her greatest challenge yet. Will she run or finally stand and face her fears? And will Eli be there to help or turn his back on her for good?
